Maria Bocanegra
Experience
Maria earned her Bachelors of Art in Political Science with Honors from Quincy University in Quincy, Illinois in 2004. She received her Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law in 2010 and is admitted to practice in the State of Illinois.
Maria is a member of the WCLA, ISBA and CBA and is fluent in Spanish.
Maria joins the firm as a new associate in the fall of 2010. Prior to entering law school, Maria worked as a judicial assistant for the Honorable David M. Furman and worked a case administrator for the United States Bankruptcy Court in the District of Colorado. While in law school, Maria was active in both Latino Law Students Association and Moot Court Society. She placed first and won best brief in the National Juvenile Law Moot Court Competition, the winning brief having been published in the Whittier Journal of Child & Family Advocacy. In addition, she was a semi-finalist in both Depaul Law's intramural moot court competition and Pepperdine Law's Entertainment Law Moot Court Competition. She has coached and worked with other students involved in moot court. Maria clerked for the firm both during and after law school.
