Jury Awards 4.3 million in Wrongful Death/Medical Malpractice – In September 2014, David Rapoport of counsel at Katz Friedman, obtained the largest jury verdict in DeKalb County when the jury awarded $4.3 million dollars in a wrongful death/medical malpractice case. Katz Friedmanand Rapoport represented the victim’s two children in this case. Previously, the largest wrongful death award in DeKalb County was $2.75 million awarded in 2008.

$1,800,000.00 – A driver ran a red light causing a T-bone collision that resulted in the need for two neck surgeries.

$1,750,000.00 – Katz Friedmanobtained a $1,750,000.00 settlement for a bricklayer injured in a construction accident and an additional $587,864.00 in the workers’ compensation case.

$1,550,000.00 – Rear-end collision due to a car sliding out of control on a snow covered road that aggravated a pre-existing spine injury requiring the replacement of surgical hardware.

$1,050,000.00 – A tractor-trailer smashed into another tractor-trailer that was sitting on the shoulder of the highway due to engine problems. Our client underwent extensive medical treatment.

SETTLEMENTS $66 Million Settlement on a Class Action Case Against AT&T and Western Electric – Katz Friedmanlawyers recovered 66 million dollars in settlement of a nation-wide class action claim against AT&T and Western Electric for discrimination against pregnant workers.

$5.6 Million – Katz Friedmanlawyers obtained a 5.6 million dollar settlement for a brain injury caused by medical negligence in the labor and delivery room of an Urbana, Illinois Hospital.

$3.7 Million – Katz Friedmanlawyers obtained a 3.7 million dollar settlement during the trial of a case for a highway construction worker struck by a truck in Sangamon County. Prior to trial, the highest offer was only 2 million.

$2.8 Million – Katz Friedmanlawyers recovered $2.8 million dollars for two Chicago area workers injured by a tire blowout. Careful investigation revealed that conversion van manufacturer failed to properly account for the additional weight caused by the conversion and did not install the proper tire.

$2.4 Million – Katz Friedmanlawyers obtained a jury verdict of $2.4 million dollars for two Vermilion County ironworkers who were injured on a construction site.
